Do you care about the history of campaign songs? Don't answer, it'll be embarrassing for both of us. At Ithacasori, we care about them enough that the bulk of our 2026 output will be dedicated to studying them. We know that political polarization is at an all-time high, and that getting your business involved in politics rarely ends well. So rather than taking sides, Ithacasori is channeling that energy into something more constructive: researching the history of US campaign songs and using music to build community.

2026 is supposed to be a celebration of 250 years of the United States , but a lot of us aren't exactly feeling festive. Ithacasori can't fix everything that's wrong with America, but as a music-based small business, we can bring a little joy and music into daily life. The US has a rich campaign song history, spanning original compositions written for specific candidates and well-known songs repurposed for campaigns, usually without the artist's consent. This year, we're producing a series of events and social media posts to help people engage with that history.

You can start right now with The New Drop, Ithacasori's Substack covering the journalistic side of the initiative. Every article is written from the perspective of a working musician, and each one is paired with an original song woven into the piece, posted to The New Drop's YouTube channel. For live event updates, head to our Events page. New platform announcements will be posted here and on our Instagram.
